Umesh has taught at Cal Arts, designed courses for the Art Institute, and served as a judge at animation festivals.

He began his directing career with his award-winning short, Still I Rise. Umesh attended the prestigious National Institute of Design (NID), founded by Charles and Ray Eames, where he studied graphic design. As well as other leading creative facilities around the world.
